Battery Won't Charge-Help

My Axim X51 battery will not charge using the docking station, the USB cord, or with the cord and connecter.
I know it is not the battery because if I remove the battery from the Axim and put it into the docking station it will take a charge.
Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be. It was charging fine yesterday but will not take a charge today.
Your help is much appreciated.
Thanks in advance

thom

As simple as it may be, have you tried a soft reset.

That is usually the first thing and then it can go from there.

Thanks for the suggestion but I tried both a soft and hard reset and it still will not charge. Any other suggestions?

Check if the battery is bulging. That may have to do with why the Axim will not charge the battery.

Also, check the metal contacts (Metal connectors between the Axim and the battery).

I have tried 3 different batteries in the Axim. None are bulging. The contacts are all in place, not bent or broken. Batteries charge in the back docking slot.
Just won't charge while in the Axim and docked or with the AC cord.

I'm wondering, maybe there is a problem with the battery sensor (Possibly the Axim thinks the battery is already full).

Hey Box (Or anyone else), think WM6+ ROM will help?

Nope battery was down to 27% of power. I put another one in that was fully charged and after using it for awhile it went down to 78% so I know the sensor is working. I have tried to charge it on 2 different docking stations. No luck.

Is it possible that the wire leading from the Axim power connector (Bottom) to the metal contact.

I think opening up your Axim would probably tell you the problem.

If it won't work in two different cradles or the usb cord, it's probably a hardware component problem inside the AX. If the AX is like most small devices, there's a circuit inside to protect the device from overcharging/heating. Normally, these circuits reset themselves after they cool down. :(

BTW - Can you charge it using the adapter connector?

No, It will not charge using the AC adapter cord. I guess I will just have to keep a spare battery charged. Batteries charge fine using the slot in the docking station.

I was checking through my Dell records and found that I had purchased the extended warranty with this product. I called Dell support and they are sending a replacement device. They said the only options were a soft and hard reset and if this didn't work then it was a hardware problem.
