Loss of half phone conversation on Axim microphone

I am trying to use a mono earbud microphone (an ECS EBPR Cellular Cordless Telephone Record Adapter) Telephone Recorder Adapter - New - Executive Communication Systems[/url] ) with a Dell Axim 51v. The Axim has a jack plug socket for earphones and a mono microphone.

Although the microphone works fine with a PC, the part of the phone conversation which comes out of the phone is only just audible on the Axim whereas anything I see into the phone is recorded clearly. I would be grateful if anyone could explain why. I can improve the audibility by increasing the gain and noise filters but the result is not really usable.

Thank you very much

The Audio jack on the axim uses a 4 ring plug.

It sounds like your adapter doesn't have the correct four ring plug to make the Mic connection work.

What you are saying into the phone is probably being recorded via the built in mic which can barely pic up the output of the phone speaker.

Lost half conversation

Many thanks. I have an adaptor which converts the two pole jack on the mike to the four pole jack but the result is the same. However inserting the adaptor jack (without the mike attached) does turn off the internal mike (it will not record). However but for that your explanation does fit the bill. Very many thanks for troubling to post.
