Hi,
My Dell axim x51v LCD is broken and requires replacement,I wanted to ask if it was possible if I used an Axim x51 LCD (mid-entry) as replacement.
Any ideas

From what I understand it will not work. Different kind of ROM and I think the 51v has a slightly larger screen.

Why would you want to go from VGA to QVGA?

To add to Emeraldgirl's point. You can interchange x51v and x50v screens, but not x51v and x50 mid screens. It is VGA-->VGA, not VGA-->QVGA.

You can get a replacement LCD and Digitizer system off eBay for about $30. It comes with instructions and the tool to take the Axim apart. I don't have a problem yet but I'm thinking about buying one to hopefully extend the life of the Axim further.

I left mine in the hot sun in the car for a few days and had a non responsive screen(well, the behavior was erratic) I wasn't sure about just changing only the touch pad and got the LCD with the touch screen. It is not difficult to separate the two( I had to because of dust in between them!!) And the price was less than $30 US. Got some torx screws from the local shop and you can use something like a credit card to separate the bezel.
