Aximsiteactivesyncicon Major Activ Sync problems

When I read the posts, it seems like so many apply to me, I don't know where to start. I've had my Axim since 2005. From time to time there have been syncing problems, but they have worked themselves through with reboots, restarts, etc. Now, the ActivSync on my PC says there are no relationships and the Axim (sitting in the cradle), just won't even try to sync. How do I make them talk? I've checked all the hardware connections, restarted, rebooted, checked settings everywhere. FRUSTRATED!! I'm lost without my mobile information center.

Sounds like the cradle and PC are not communicating. When you plug the cradle into the USB port it should indicate new hardware being installed. If not, it may be a bad cradle.

I had thought of that, also. However, when I click the PDA in and out of the cradle it be-bonks on the desktop. I've played with with the USB cord. So, I'm open to ideas. How do I find out if the cradle is bad without having to buy another one? ???

Try turning off any firewalls and antivirus software, to rule them out.

YAY! Step One - the Firewall trick worked. At least Active Sync on the PC tried to connect. Still no connection. The scan ran and I read the script. Everything was clean - it told me to plug in the PDA. It also gave a link a microsoft to check. I'll check and let you know.

Soooooo. I was sitting here working away at my job, when clicks and chimes started going off. I had done a bunch of stuff earlier trying to get it to respond and had thought I should just stuff it back in my purse and study more at home, but got interrupted and didn't disconnect from the cable. All of a sudden the Device Connected sign came up. I waited and then it asked me to create a new relationship. VOILA! It started syncing and 3 minutes later it's done! I have been struggling with this since May. I think it was a combination of things - turning off the firewall, wiggling the cradle, and then I did a soft boot. When nothing happened after the softboot, that's when I was going to walk away. Maybe it was the way the rain was falling outside, I don't know..... What I do know is I'm suddenly getting reminders about my husband's birthday 4 years ago. Time to do some cleaning in outlook....... THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!!!!!!!
