Axim locked up

Just got an x51v on ebay. Planned on using it with a real estate appraisal application. I'm new to these devices and a lot of the stuff on this site is way over my head. Anyway I got the unit on and active sync installed. I was on the internet with it and the screen got a little fuzzy in areas. I tried a soft reset but right now when I turn it on the windows mobile screen comes on but I can't get to the start screen. Can't do anything really. There is not much data on it but there are settings to use my wirelss router on it. Can I save any of the settings on it by using active sync? Do I need to do a hard reset? The internet seems pretty slow to me and was wondering if that is normal. If these things are that senstive not sure I will trust it with my work. Thanks and hope you can steer me in the right direction.

ActiveSync will share with your computer the data you choose in its settings--things like contacts, calendar, etc. It isn't a backup system for the device; for that, there is a built-in program, and there are much better third-party programs to back up--Sprite, SPB, and Resco all make versions that have been well received. You'll have to get past the WM screen to make a backup
You've tried soft resetting again? Any luck getting to the today screen?

I've tried several times and no luck. Tried reset again and nothing. When I do a hard reset do I need to remove the cf card? Not that there is anything on it.

You need not remove the CF card; the hard reset will clear out the main memory and restore original settings.
