Can you hack the thing at all?
I don't have one but you can hack iPods a load. Not the Zune? WUWT?

Hahah, well I never thought to hack the zune device, and although I don't have one I use the software quite often.. Not much of a hack but you can download a hack that allows custom backgrounds.. which is kind of nice :D

Soccerfreak24:I've had a file extension on my zune so it can play more file formats but i don't think that this is considered to be a hacked zune...is it? :)

azaas: Well, it's more of a hack than I have.. haha I think that'd be useful for some people that are angry about non supported file types.

You can usually only hack the zune software and hack the zune to make it a portable hardrive

I wouldnt recommend hacking the hardrive it can mess things up :(

Rest assured with the release of XNA for Zune you will soon see applications popping up to manipulate the Zune.

Just as with Windows Mobile for cellphone the Zune uses a ROM flashing utility to load the bootloader and OS onto the device. Microsoft is still keeping these tools to themselves and it doesn't look like it will be leaking out anytime soon. God forbid there was ever a Zune HD / Android zombie running around.
