Firmware 2.2 complaints

Used to be you could organize your TV shows into "folders" by editing the metadata and giving them all the same TV show name but different Episode names.
Then all episodes of a given TV show would appear in that TV show's folder.

Firmware 2.2 removed that feature and now all TV shows appear in one long alphabetical list.

Ok, it looks like this feature is still there but I had to delete everything off of my Zune and resync it to get it to categorize.

Same with Movie thumbnails.
Gone after the update and the only way to get them back is to delete and resync.

That doesn't quite live up to all the claims I was hearing that the update will not affect material already on your Zune.

That sucks, as I understand though, Microsoft is working on readding this.

Video/TV show groups

Just wanted to let you know that if you use a WMV metadata editor (I use dSHARPiE) you can put the videos in categories (movies, tv shows, music videos) then when you name then, they will be in groups. Right now under TV shows I have How I Met Your Mother and Comedy Central Presents. So there are just the two groups int eh videos, but if I click on one of them it'll show all the episodes I have under that name. Unfortunately my two seasons of HIMYM still don't list in numerical order, but at least I don't have to go through all my videos to pick the episode I want.

Thanks.
I already used dSHARPiE and all of my things were in order before the upgrade but not after.
I needed to delete them and resync them to get them to re-organize after the upgrade.

And if you want to sort them in numerical order you can either order them in dSHARPiE before you save or else use a program like TigoTago to set the WM_TrackNumber metatag.
The Zune sorts by WM_Year first and then by WM_TrackNumber.
If you have different years the latest year will be at the top of the list (how backwards is that?!) so if your list spans multiple years you'll have to set all the years the same in order to get accurate sorting.
Make sure you use 01, 02, 03, etc. for the WM_TrackNumber and not 1,2,3.

they're still not in order. i've numbered both season 1-44 (22 ep a season) and yeah, they're 01, 02 etc. i tried it with all the same year and without a year, but they still won't order. starting to really frustrate me.

You edited their WM_TrackNumber metadata or you just named them 1-44? Naming isn't good enough.
If the metadata didn't work you can try this:
Load them all into dSHARPiE and drag them around until they're in the order you want them from top to bottom.
Then save them all.

Both methods worked for me but the years all did have to be the same -- blank year didn't work because my program wasn't really deleting the year from the metadata.

I named them like this:

Title - How I Met Your Mother (puts them all in the same group)
Episode - Season and Episode Number and then Episode Title

so basically it looks something like this:

How I Met Your Mother - 2.01 - Where Were We

Then in the Metadata I have them labeled 01-44 so episode 2.01 is tracknumber 23. They all have the same date and there's no descrepency amongst the names that would cause them to be in such a random, yet somewhat organized order.

So Yeah, that's where i'm at. Thanks for your help.
