CF Modem Card - Dial Up - Tips/Advice?
I have a wireless setup in my home and works perfect.
I just purchased a CF Dial Up Modem Card, to that I can access internet and email from either work or any other place I am at that I need to connect to internet. I found a company on the Internet called BudgetDialUp.com and they sound like the perfect alternative - buy a few hours of dialup access at a time, it is cheap and they have hundreds of access numbers in every state.
My modem is scheduled for delivery in two days from Dell.

Anyway - Does anyone have experience in using a dial up modem on thier Axim? and does anyone have any tips or advice??

Thanks

I use both (i.e., Budget Dialup and a CF modem) when I travel and on most summer weekends and it's as easy as pie.

You can set your current location in the connections control pael set up with all of the Budget Dialup numbers that you might use set up as well and it will automatically pick the best number (based on area code).

Will this work with NetZero? They have local phone numbers all over the USA, too.

I have a CF modem and have successfully used it in a number of different locations. (Gosh, it's slow compared to wifi, though.) I don't know anything about Budget Dialup, but at least my socket 56K modem was trivial to configure and has always worked well.

Got my CF Modem yesterday. Connected to Budget Dial Up with a free 5 hr trial - works awesome!! This dial up is only 3.95 for 10 hours. Took about 60 seconds to set up modem and phone connection.
Very Pleased.

I was never able to connect using NetZero. Subscribed to Access4Free.com, and have never had a problem.

You said you have a wifi setup. Shouldn't your isp give you dialup access as well for backup and travel.
Netzero encrypts their login dialguard shows that.

Unfortunately my ISP does not have dial up service yet, just cable internet. I just called yesterday - they are thinking about adding dial up, they just do not have a demand for dial up here in the Kansas City area. Cable internet is very competitive and price is affordable to all.

Since i'm cheap and already own a PC Card modem, is there an adapter for PC card to CF like there is from CF to PC Card. seems unlikely but i thought i'd check
