1st of all, if it does, it will most likely be referred to as the HTC HD2 still. It seems that HTC is working on bolstering their already big name by not allowing the carriers to rebrand their phones. So, T-Mo News got a tip that the HTC Leo aka the HD2 might be coming to T-Mobile. They apparently received a photo of some promo material that clearly show the HD2 on T-Mobile paper.

We already know the HTC HD2 is expected to be in the 1st quarter of 2010 so the following comment is right in line with that. I could see myself buying one of these off contract and unlocking just to have it. :)

Expect this device to land on T-Mobile USA Q1 of 2010. You may resume drooling! –Kickstar13

Those who have been claiming that most all applications and data storage will soon move from devices to the internet and remote servers (that is, the “cloud”) have been working overtime trying to explain away the fears of consumers and IT pros alike due to several high profile outages over the last month.

First there have been several sustained outages for Google’s Gmail. While in the end they only lasted a few hours and did not do any long term damage, having your email client up and accessible at all times is quite essential to most enterprise users as well as being a major promise made by Cloud backers and the outages have made them nervous. There have also been several periods where Gmail was up but the contacts lists were not available which made it more difficult to use. These situations did little to inspire confidence in the Cloud.

Then there were numerous Twitter outages and Google Docs hiccups over the last few weeks, as well as a somewhat lackluster response to Google’s new Wave application, a Cloud based collaboration tool..however, all of that was nothing compared to the recent T-Mobile Sidekick outage.

Most of the speculation about “Project Dark” has centered around an iPhone deal, 4G, different pricing plans or a combination things.

How about a deal with Apple for the new, yet unannounced iPad tablet? Some of the iPad tablet rumors have mentioned an included built-in WAN. I’m sure that Apple realizes the degree to which the AT&T network is challenged. A high-bandwidth consuming device like the iPad would only further exacerbate the problem.

Hmmm….

I came across a forum post where the user had “found” an iPhone and was proceeding to set it up as his own. It really irked me that despite how easy it would be to put in anti theft measures, especially with a device like the iPhone, North American providers and Apple have turned a blind eye.

No big brother type shakedown, just implementation of technologies that currently exist in our devices. (Because the scenario rings true of any phone and we’ve all gone through it at some point or other.) Though prevalent in Europe, why is it that no IMEI Blacklist exists in North America? Though Apple registers your serial number when you connect to iTunes, and claims in their manual that it is partially for anti theft purposes, Why can’t a device be locked out of iTunes if it doesn’t comply with it’s original setup information? Or Apple help with locating IP’s? Why is it the web is full of stories of users who’ve lost or had their devices stolen, who turn to either company for assistance and encounter both companies playing the blame game as to who has dropped the ball?

Neither AT&T, Rogers in Canada or Apple are prepared to lock down a device reported as stolen and it lends to the question why?? The answer this writer has come up with? Greed. Why discourage theft, when you can have two customers for the price of one? Why discourage theft when you can sell a second device, unsubsidized or sell another copy of Mobile Me? Let’s not even get into the fact that insurance isn’t offered on the device, though it is on other smartphones.

So what’s your recourse as a consumer? When you’re opening your wallet for that next gadget purchase, use a credit card like American Express…your purchases are covered for at least 90 days (though not on the Corporate card), or consider adding your device to your home owners or renters insurance, though a lost/stolen device could increase your premiums, because if you lose your device the only person holding the ball is you.

If you don’t remember the announcement, MotoBlur is sort of a shell on top of Android similar to Touch Flo on top of Windows Mobile. The big difference is that MotoBlur seems to be really social networking oriented.

The Motorola CLIQ isn’t a StarTac. It isn’t a RAZR. It’s a decent phone with a great concept. A concept that unfortunately wasn’t executed as well as it should have been when the entire industry is watching. We feel that the Motorola CLIQ’s appeal will be to the young teen market as opposed to consumers as a whole like other Android handsets. It’s only the first phone from Motorola and their new initiative, and they deserve credit for putting together something this unique and creative. Yet compared to something along the lines of HTC’s offerings, we don’t think many people are going to spring for a clunky Android handset regardless of price.

I purchased the unlocked version 3 months ago, but I totally plan to get the AT&T version when it hits. All 3 of my numbers have upgrades available now. :)

I will warn everyone that this deal is for new subscribers and all those other little red tape items, but let’s face it, if you are not already a T-Mobile customer and you really want a Touch Pro 2, it still might be worth it for you. Thanks for sending this in Randy.

He was using the T-Mobile version of the Touch Pro 2. He had this on loan from T-Mobile, but he was wanting to know what I thought about the phone before he pulled the trigger on his own. Since Matt Miller is Palmsolo (former iPaqHQ moderator) and he has recently shared the opinion that Android is pretty nice, I told him he’d have to make that choice on his own. I think he will end up buying one of his own personally. I made sure to tell him how my Touch Pro 2 that I bought a couple months has had me faithful lately. I haven’t even looked at other women, erm… I mean phones. The Touch Pro 2 has me in mobile bliss right now. Well, we’ll see soon what Matt decides on his own.

So, 30 minutes later, I get an email from another old buddy. This guy is a SQL Server Microsoft MVP. He sends this across… Can you guess what I got today? I didn’t have to guess much. I said, a T-Mobile Touch Pro 2 and he replied, “Yep. Amazing phone despite stuck on the 6.1 OS. Expensive, but so much potential.” followed by “T-Mobile did us right by this one. Tethering is left in place. Opera is included. Heck, Even Windows Update is left intact. Sweet piece of hardware.” Yep. Geoff likes the TP 2 as well.

What’s everyone else saying about the T-Mobile Version of the Touch Pro 2?

As I mentioned in my last post, I love my Touch Pro 2. Since I don’t have 3G in my area, the European, unlocked, Touch Pro 2 works just great for me. We’ll have 3G in the next couple months, so I do need to get the AT&T branded version when it hits, but until them, I am fine. If you are a T-Mobile customer, the wait is almost over according to GSM Arena…

We just got word on the exact release dates of some of the hottest new gadgets that are going to hit the T-Mobile shelves in the following weeks. Thanks to an anonymous tipster we now know that the subscribers of one of the largest carriers worldwide will be treated to a series of QWERTY-enabled handsets, with the Touch Pro2 the obvious star signing.

The new T-Mobile Touch Pro2 is scheduled to launch on August 12, replacing the T-Mobile Wing in the handset lineup. One of the best-equipped WinMo handsets of all times paid our office a visit for an in-depth review not too long ago

There you have it, the wait is almost over guys and gals.

I’ve been hiding under a rock for a few weeks, but I have been keeping in touch with my Touch Pro 2. I love it and I know many of you will too. For the T-Mobile users out there, there has been a whirlwind of news about the T-Mobile Touch Pro 2 lately.

The 1st bit of news is that TmoNews is reporting that the release date is confirmed for August 12, 2009. That’s just around the corner guys!

The other news is not really news, just a little gadget pr0n, also courtesy of TmoNews…

Looks like someone has gotten another look at this thing… Taking a look at the photos and this video, I am not too fond of the look that they’ve done for T-Mobile here. I know it’s quite petty, but the two tone look of the keyboard area is just awful looking. I guess it doesn’t matter too much since it’s an awesome phone either way.
