HTC Trophy spotted with Verizon colors

Posted by Matt P. on Feb 28, 2011 | 5 Comments

That’s it folks. Word is that there’s nothing really new on this one and the European version, besides this is said to be running the latest versions of Windows Phone 7, and also includes the newly implemented copy/paste function. Hopefully we’ll see this go official sometime soon. The increase in...

HTC Mozart to Run Windows Phone 7

Posted by Zealot on Oct 05, 2010 | 14 Comments

It seems like the last couple weeks you can’t go anywhere online without running into yet another leaked WP7 handset. The one that was outed this weekend is yet another device from HTC, the Mozart. This will join the Mondrian and the HD7 in the rapidly expanding HTC Windows Phone 7 lineup, as well as probably more devices that have yet to be leaked or that I have forgotten about. The info comes from a PowerPoint slide...

WP7 Release Spurning Enterprise, Then Remaking WinMo’s Mistakes?

Posted by Zealot on Oct 01, 2010 | 13 Comments

Oh please Mr. Ballmer, say it ain’t so. Remember the dark days when Microsoft split its Mobile client into three flavors; first called Pocket PC, PPC Phone and PPC Smartphone and then Windows Mobile Standard, Windows Mobile Professional and Windows Mobile Classic (for some reason at the time, MS marketers missed the obvious fourth flavor, Windows Mobile Increasingly Irrelevant)? It appears that MS may be going for a...

Windows Phone 7: OCTOBER 21st, The Ads: RIGHT NOW

Posted by Zealot on Sep 26, 2010 | 7 Comments

Well, according to Neowin it is official. Windows Phone 7 will be rolling out on October 21st in the UK, France, Italy, Spain and Germany with whole bunches of launch events and major partners such as Orange. In addition, there will be a special event hosted by Microsoft on October 11th  in New York City in which I would expect ALL the devices to be formally announced and debuted along with the final version of the OS. No...

iPhone vs WP7: The Comparisons Begin

Posted by Zealot on Sep 24, 2010 | 4 Comments

To many of us, especially those who are not as techno-obsessive as others, smartphones are all beginning to look the same. Same apps, same specs, similar screens…yadda yadda. As I am somewhat known for being a gadget fan (aka “The freak with all the tech junk in his office”), more and more people now ask me when they are debating between two cellphones, “what is the difference, really?”. Often all I can do is...

Microsoft Buries iPhone, Blackberry

Posted by Zealot on Sep 12, 2010 | 11 Comments

This story has already been all over the interwebs over the last few days, but due to Rosh HaShana I didn’t actually get a crack at it till now. Mobile Microsofties actually staged a funeral procession for the iPhone and the Blackberry to celebrate the release to manufacturers of Windows Phone 7, replete with pallbearers, impressive clergymen and zombies. Even better, they recreated a bit of Michael Jackson’s Thriller...

HTC Event in London, September 15th – HD3/7 Time?

Posted by Zealot on Sep 07, 2010 | 2 Comments

Taiwanese phone giants HTC have an invitation only event scheduled for London on September 15th. As is the current fashion for such things, it hasn’t said what it will be announcing and the invitation features just a lot of smoke (how fitting) and the vague hint of a phone, which seems to be the back of a Desire. Pundits and tech fans alike have been guessing about what they have in store. Conventional wisdom holds...

Windows Phone 7 Called “Elegant”

Posted by Zealot on Sep 01, 2010 | 9 Comments

Before the entire blogosphere becomes an arm of Apple’s Marketing team for 48 hours or so after today’s event, let’s look at a somewhat singular event that occurred today. One of my favorite real tech columnists, Ina Fried, actually called Windows Phone 7 “elegant” yesterday after working with the OS for about a month now. Now in the past I have called Microsoft products “useful”, “comprehensive”, “inexplicable”...

Posted by Rich Bilancia on Aug 22, 2010 | 7 Comments

Technorati Tags: OtterBox,HD2 For the last week I’ve been using an OtterBox Defender Series case with my T-Mobile HTC HD2. The case was provided by OtterBox for review. Readers may remember my earlier post about my visit to the OtterBox headquarters in Fort Collins, Colorado. Since that time I’ve used several OtterBox products, but the OtterBox Defender Series case for the T-Mobile HTC HD2 is my first experience...

With less than 60 days till launch; a few friends and readers are approaching me with questions on how to be prepared for moving everything they have on their current smartphones into their new Windows Phones. This is an attempt to help out those who have already decided to make the jump into this innovative phone OS. If you have seen the demos and how Windows Phone 7 works; you probably have realized that most of the...

Windows Phone 7 and XBox Live–Together at LAST!

Posted by Zealot on Aug 17, 2010 | 1 Comment

One of the most highly touted and anticipated aspects of Windows Phone 7, as well as the one that has been most carefully shrouded in mystery by Microsoft, the way that WP7 will interface with XBox Live, has finally been outed by Engadget. Here is what they had to say about it… All in all, it’s a promising picture for Microsoft. The company has the clout, the community, and most importantly the cash to pull this...

Windows Phone 7 Includes Voice Recognition

Posted by Diego Samuilov on Aug 09, 2010 | 16 Comments

Some people with developer Windows Phone 7 devices have not quite discovered this feature yet, but voice recognition is embedded into most Windows Phone 7 functions. WP7 comes with the service powered by TellMe, one of the largest cloud-based voice recognition platforms currently active. This provides immediate voice pattern recognition with a level of accuracy that is unparalleled. On top of that, you can’t really...

Windows Phone 7: Sixty Days of Night

Posted by Zealot on Aug 08, 2010 | 12 Comments

Well, it is almost upon us…the release of Windows Phone 7. My colleague Diego reported the other day that Redmond execs are now openly stating that there will be an October rollout in Europe, a November rollout in the US. Rumors are coming in that Microsoft Australia is planning their release events for late August and there are hints that other Asian markets may be doing the same. So we are down to it then…in sixty...

Jaybird have released their update to their very successful Sportsband Bluetooth Headphones range with the release of the Sportsband 2. Monday to Friday I spend about 45 mins travelling to work one way, this includes a 5 min walk to the train station, 30 min train ride and a 10 min walk to work from the train station so most days I like to listen to music on my walks and watch a movie on the train, now I used to use...

Windows Phone 7 Launch Schedule

Posted by Diego Samuilov on Aug 06, 2010 | 3 Comments

Microsoft COO Kevin Turner has announced, without giving out actual dates, a more specific launch schedule. He has given a timeframe more specific than the already known and vague “holiday season” timeframe and has said that the smartphones will become available in October for Europe and November for the US. His exact words were “In October likely across Europe and November likely across the US we’ll be back...

HTML Mail Images Spiked on Windows Phone 7

Posted by Zealot on Aug 03, 2010 | 13 Comments

Intomobile is reporting that one of the most controversial feature choices in Windows Mobile has caried over into Windows Phone, that is the initial blocking of images in HTML based emails. With Windows Phone 7 when you first download an HTML email, any images will not be downloaded, replaced with placeholders. You can then opt to download the mail again if you wish, this time with the images. The article notes that...
