has recently released an interesting product in the realm of bluetooth stereo audio, the Callpod Drone. Now at first casual glance, this average-sized dongle appears to be one of the many typical bluetooth adapters where you need to ensure a functional BT stack and requisite drivers and spend a fair amount of time waiting for everything to install or demand you supply a driver disk to satisfy its requirements, point to driver locations, update online and so on. Not so with this little silver and black gem!

The devices we choose to use in our everyday mobile life are generally pretty cool and for the most part satisfy our needs but it is the “peripheral” devices that enhance the enjoyment of the device. One such “peripheral” that is fast becoming mandatory for all of us to have is a Bluetooth hands free car kit . Most states today already have mandatory laws on using cell phones while driving and each month, another state joins those ranks. I would expect that soon we will see all states will have some sort of law on the books regarding the use of cell phones while driving.

In April, TRITTON Technologies announced the arrival of their AX Visor Universal Bluetooth car kit. It is a state-of-the-art speaker phone with caller ID display and had both unidirectional and omnidirectional microphones making communication while on the road seamless. I liked the device and posted a news item referencing its characteristics.

Shortly after that news item, a representative from Tritton called and referenced several of the previous reviews I had done and asked if I would be interested in getting a review unit to look at. I indicated that I was interested and within a few days the AX Visor was at my door waiting for me to experience its capabilities.

Price: MSRP $59.99 (some online retailers offer significant discount)

Bluetooth headsets have been available for a number of years now. However, several states have enacted laws that make hands-free headsets less of an optional ornament and more of a necessary accessory. Tritton Technologies Inc. is known mostly for their USB devices, but they are venturing into the headset market with the AX Micro.

“The TRITTON AX Micro breaks the mold of traditional Bluetooth headsets by providing innovative features in a discrete stylish design. The AX Micro incorporates a new design with flexible finger grips that rest on the in-curve rim of the ear. This headset offers great stability and comfort whether used in an active or corporate environment.”

What’s in the Box?

My AX Micro arrived in a fairly plain black box that displays the headset through a clear, plastic window. Also included in the box are one small and one large sized rubber ear grippers, a lanyard and clip, an AC/DC adapter, and a charging cradle that can be powered by AC/DC or a mini USB.

Finding the right mobile headset is a personal decision. There are so many choices available and picking the right one that will satisfy every need you have is a difficult decision at best. Certainly size, appearance and functionality is at the top of the list but there are other considerations that come into play. For example: battery life, quality, durability, and charging are all prime considerations.

Recently, I saw two Motorola products that caught my eye and I wanted to look more closely at them. The MOTO T505 is a handsfree solution for use while driving that I reviewed a couple of weeks ago and I was extremely pleased with it. In fact it was as close to perfect as I have seen to date. Today, I will look at the MOTOPURE H12 Bluetooth Headset.

I have this thing with accessories that make your device better than the way it comes from the box. In particular, I have been looking at several Bluetooth car kits over the past few months and have found most to be very good, a few have been excellent and one that was what I would consider near perfect. But the quest continues to find that perfect solution.

So what do I want in a Bluetooth Speakerphone for the car?

I have a basic list of features that I look for which are: Easy paring, clear sound as I listen to a call either driving or standing still, adjustable volume controls that work, I want the other end of a call to hear me clearly, the ability to use a voice command feature, and I want the ability to listen to my music.

Design is important in selection of a car kit. Not only do you want it to look pleasing to the eye but size is also important. If it is too big, it probably won’t work to well on your visor and if it’s too small, control of feature buttons can be difficult. So trying to find that happy medium of size, good looks and having that key set of features is sometimes a daunting task.

When I first saw a picture of the MOTOROKR T505 Bluetooth In-Car Speakerphone I was impressed. .. It just looked good. I liked its size and the list of features impressed me, especially the ability to transmit not only music via your FM radio but your incoming calls as well.

An Excellent Holiday Gift for that Special Someone!

We all spend a lot of time finding that “perfect” device to use to deal effectively with our quest to Experience Mobility easily and comfortably. But now there is another word that we must include and that is "safely".

With the number of states implementing legislation restricting the use of cell phones, a hands-free solution is a necessity … no, it is a must! It was just a year ago that I reviewed the BlueAnt SuperTooth II and at that time I called it “a near perfect solution”. During the past year, I have used it virtually every day and have been incredibly pleased not only with the device but the quality of the sound I receive in a call. In addition, the battery life is terrific and of course, the included DC charger has been a huge plus.

Last week, it was time to get a pre-holiday present for my wife … a new car. It has all the bells and whistles that make a car fun, but it did not come with a hands free solution. One of the first items on our agenda was to get a hands free solution and of course I looked to BlueAnt to provide that solution. But now they have a new addition to their family of products and this one looked real good. Using technology from Cambridge Silicon Radio, this device has its audio quality enhanced via Clear Voice Capture (CVC) Digital Signal Processor (DSP) technology, with an end result of providing truly superior sound.

It had a classy look coupled with the specs I felt were important in a hands free solution. In addition, my experience with BlueAnt products has been stellar so I was confident that it would provide my wife with the ability to Experience Mobility at a high level. So was it a good choice? Was it easy to setup and use? And most importantly, was my wife going to be pleased with the solution?

More after the break

Now BlueMouse has been around for a while so I’m assuming quite a few people have tried out the earlier versions and either liked it or not. This latest revision has added in support for a lot more devices from major mouse manufacturers, so a mouse you tried before may be compatible with BlueMouse now, and worth another try.

Now claims in the original email I got about BlueMouse stated,

“And the good news is that starting with version 1.2, the Bluetooth keyboards are also compatible with BlueMouse!
Now you can use your Bluetooth Mouse and your Bluetooth Keyboard with your Pocket PC at the same time.”

These are one of the first BluNa Bluetooth adapters specifically designed for the iPod nano, together with the Anycom Bluetooth Stereo Headset BSH-100.

I’m fairly new to Bluetooth technology, and I spent over eight hours reading how to connect the headphones to the Axim. Nobody should have to work that hard. But that is not the fault of the headphone makers. Otherwise, the headphones were easy to connect to the other devices. The sound quality was surprisingly good, and the headphones were a joy to use. Having no wires to tangle things up really adds satisfaction to your listening pleasure. I truly feel that more high end headphones will turn to this technology. Last night I was cooking dinner for my three kids while I was listening to music and testing these headphones out. I let each child have a turn. No worry about wires. It’s a user friendly headphone.
