A few weeks ago, Motorola and Verizon launched the third Droid branded full QWERTY slider. Dubbed the Droid 3 (surprising, we know), this latest addition to the Droid family looks a good bit like its older siblings, but also packs some worthwhile upgrades. We’ve spent the last two weeks with one, so read on for our thoughts!

The PlayStation Phone is probably one of the worst-kept secrets in the mobile industry — there were whispers and talks everywhere, and blogs even managed to get hands-on with prototypes. Those days are now over, and PlayStation Phone — better known as the Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY – is now here.

Although it’s not immediately noticeable, the Xperia PLAY is quite different from your standard...

Thisismynext got word of another possible Android device that’s heading to T-Mobile, but not for a while, so don’t get too excited. According to them, the Samsung ‘Hercules’ is “not even entering the carrier’s test labs for another month and isn’t slated for acceptance until mid-August”. So the specs that follow are nowhere set in stone, nor confirmed by any means, but here’s...

Over the last 5 years or so I have been a staunch support and user of SPB Products from my early days with Windows Mobile 2003, 5.0 & 6.5 from SPB Diary, Pocket Plus and many more of their titles. It wasn’t till I had bought my HTC HD2 that I really got into using SPB Mobile Shell. This powerful interface add some enhancements that Windows Mobile was missing or was lacking in ability.
With my final move away...

It’s clear that everyone wants a tablet. Apple swung a huge hit with the original iPad last year, and more recently, the iPad 2. Google has now entered the competition with the Motorola Xoom and Android 3.0 “Honeycomb”. We’ve been using the Xoom for the past few days, so keep reading for our full review.

Recently I sold my HTC HD2 as I was sick of the device freezing and having to reset it by taking out the battery and to make matters worse I had the Otterbox Defender case so having to take that off 2-4 times a day was starting to get on my nerves.
I knew straight away that my next device would be Android that was a given, Why? Well I didn’t like WinMo 6.5 so cross that one off the list, next WP7 again just don’t...

Aside from a delicious dashi soup, Miso is also a fabulous social check-in website with matching mobile apps available for iPhone, iPad, and Android. Like Foursquare, Miso creates a fun social networking environment around check-ins, but instead of checking into physical locations, users check into television shows and movies at any given time through their mobile phone or through Miso’s main website.
Since each...

A large number of the mobile magazine readers available are just that, readers. Articles are as dynamic as their embedded images. I read movie reviews on my Android phone through Greed, watch trailers and buy movie tickets through Fandango, and find the nearest movie theaters and restaurants through Google Maps. At this point, I’d love to consolidate all those apps to save as much of my smartphone’s storage...

I would like to extend a warm welcome to Slingplayer. It’s nice to have this functionality again, which I’ve enjoyed for many years on my Windows Mobile devices. Now I am happy to report that it’s available for Android handsets.
In case you are not familiar with Slingplayer, let me introduce you. It’s all about the use of placeshifting technology, which enables you to stream video from your TV, DVR or other video...

Talk about bad publicity. Just a few days after the exciting reveal of the Samsung Galaxy Tab and Samsung’s extreme Android affection, Google’s Hugo Barra, director of mobile products, claims in a typical engineering-honesty-that-can-really-ruin-sales that "Froyo is not optimized for use on tablets". Wow. Did you get this one? That could really speed up sales for Samsung’s Tab, couldn’t...

Motorola hits another homerun with the Droid X. I’m not certain what the “X” stands for, but I’m going to say that it must stand for “Excellent” because it is. Let me tell you why I have come to that conclusion.

Could this be the first legit Android rival to the iPad? Well, the name is certainly stupid enough…the Samsung Galaxy Tab. Positioned as the ginormous version of Samsung’s popular (and already pretty damn large) Galaxy S series of Android devices, the Tab is said to be 7 inches of impressively spec’ed fury aimed right at Cupertino.
Said to be ready to go official any day now, the Samsung Tab is a 7" inch tablet...

SlideMyTiles is a new game for Android just released to the Market place. The game is currently a freeware on it’s way to become a commercial game and a best seller I would add.
I got a pre release copy from the author a few days ago and I have to confess that once I started play I could not stop. It’s simple but very addictive puzzle game.

The idea of writing with a stylus against a resistive touchscreen definitely lends itself to Graffiti, which has just recently been made available on the Android Market by ACCESS. Veteran PalmOS users, who mostly likely remember Graffiti fondly, can rejoice. For the rest of us, using a fingertip to draw Graffiti’s gestures on a capacitive touchscreen may feel clumsy at best.

I have known for awhile now I would need to pull the trigger on an Android device soon. After all, Android is not only becoming more and more popular, thus more essential for my reviewer’s bag of tricks but it is also enticing me more and more as I lose hope for Windows Phone.
The only real question was which device to use as my Gateway Drug. I had been holding out for an unlocked Dell Streak, but as we go longer and...
