AT&T Epix Real World Battery Test, 4+ Days!

In a far from scientific test of the AT&T Epix, I was about to go 4 days without a charge. I charged up last Thursday night. Last night, Monday November 3rd, I charged again and the indication was that I had 20% battery left.

During the weekend, the phone was checking email (Exchange Push) and a couple short phone calls. Friday and Monday, the Epix got moderate use. Email checking constantly, an average of 1 hour of talk time, and about an hour of internet time.

Like I said, this is just a real life observation. I would have tried to push the test through today, but I have a couple important meetings I have to be on the phone for today. 4 Days is awesome and I am happy that we have this whopping 1800mah battery in here!

BGR busted the unboxing out yesterday and today, AT&T makes it official.

New Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional Handset Boasts State-of-the-Art Features Including Wi-Fi, Built-in aGPS, Video Share and 2.0 Megapixel Camera

AT&T customers can now have a smartphone of “epix” proportions. AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) and Samsung Telecommunications America (Samsung Mobile) announced today the availability of the Samsung Epix™, an innovative new smartphone featuring both an advanced touch screen and new optical mouse technology that is powered by AT&T’s 3G network, the nation’s fastest, and the Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional operating system.

The Epix, which is available exclusively to AT&T subscribers in the U.S., provides users with a choice of ways to navigate its touch screen, including the first-ever implementation of optical mouse technology on a phone sold in the U.S. Located in the center of the device between the right and left soft keys, the optical mouse allows for quick and easy navigation by simply sweeping a finger over it. To make a selection, a single click will bring users to their desired location within the phone’s menus. The optical mouse can also be switched to a four-way navigation key for more traditional navigation. For those who would rather interact directly with the touch screen, they can either use their finger to navigate or the Epix’s built-in stylus for pinpoint accuracy.

AT&T Samsung Epix (i907) Unboxed

BGR has got their hands on one that we all knew was coming, but didn’t expect this soon. WOW. Nice Job. They don’t seem to think too highly of the device though…

Counting out the AT&T Tilt, this is probably the thickest phone in their line-up. Now, you do get Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional with a touch screen with Haptic feedback, a QWERTY ‘board, optical mouse, 850MHz/1900MHz/2100MHz HSDPA and GPS. So, for some, that might be enough of a reason to overlook the beast-like form of the Samsung Epix. We’re highly disappointed with the screen in general as it looks extremely dated and pixelated — much like the Samsung Omnia.
