Review: Motorola Droid 3

Posted by CR H. on Sep 02, 2011 | 6 Comments

A few weeks ago, Motorola and Verizon launched the third Droid branded full QWERTY slider. Dubbed the Droid 3 (surprising, we know), this latest addition to the Droid family looks a good bit like its older siblings, but also packs some worthwhile upgrades. We’ve spent the last two weeks with one, so read on for our thoughts! Hardware The Droid 3 looks a good bit like its two older siblings at first glance, but is...

It’s clear that everyone wants a tablet. Apple swung a huge hit with the original iPad last year, and more recently, the iPad 2. Google has now entered the competition with the Motorola Xoom and Android 3.0 “Honeycomb”. We’ve been using the Xoom for the past few days, so keep reading for our full review. DROID 3 images surface online

Posted by Matt P. on Mar 16, 2011 | 1 Comment

Android devices seem to leak out daily so it seems. Just the other day Verizon’s Incredible 2 showed its face, but now a user at Howard Forums was kind enough to share a few photos of the alleged DROID 3. As you can see the keyboard got a minor makeover since the last gen, which looks more usable. No word on alleged specs, or release yet. Source: Howard Forums AKPC_IDS += "40450,"; Read More →

Best Buy pegs Motorola XOOM for $799; HTC Thunderbolt for $249

Posted by Matt P. on Feb 12, 2011 | 3 Comments

The upcoming circular for Best Buy that was acquired from Droid-Life confirms a $799 price tag for Motorola’s XOOM tablet and a $249 tag on the HTC Thunderbolt. Now, before you go spend $799 + taxes on the XOOM, you need to know that you will need to sign up at least one month of data to activate the WiFi chip. But finally, you’ll be able to soon pick up the Thunderbolt for $249 with a two-year contract,...

Motorola Atrix 4G priced at $150 by Costco and AmazonWireless

Posted by Matt P. on Jan 28, 2011 | 7 Comments

You’re looking at an alleged Costco inventory screen shot landing the Atrix 4G at only $150 on contract. That’s pretty low, IMO, but third party sellers often sell for less, so you’re probably looking at $200 from AT&T. Still good, right? AmazonWireless also had someone get a little too happy and put the Atrix 4G page up a little too early (since been taken down), but it also lists it as $150 on...

Motorola Xoom launching on February 17th?

Posted by Matt P. on Jan 24, 2011 | 4 Comments

According to an alleged internal slide, Best Buy will be launching the Motorola’s Xoom tablet on February 17th with a price tag of $699.99. Now, this is in the same ball park, price wise as Apple’s 64GB iPad. It’s priced reasonably for what this 10.1-inch 1280 x 800-pixel tablet is packing compared to the iPad. Read on after the break to see an alleged screenshot of Best Buy’s Employee Toolkit,...

Droid X Releases Strong

Posted by Zealot on Jul 19, 2010 | 5 Comments

Verizon spent the last week telling everyone that they had plenty of Droid X handsets to go around, so come on down, bring the kids and bite on a dog. Whether they truly did think they had enough, or it was a marketing statement to set up the following fact I have no idea, but the Droid X is indeed sold out online and in “certain parts of the country” at Best Buys and Verizon stores. Of course no one is giving out...

Droid Keeps Android Market In Its Iron Grip

Posted by Zealot on Jul 05, 2010 | 15 Comments

Well, apparently this WAS the Droid you were looking for. Nearly a year after its high profile release, the Motorola Droid is still the most popular Android phone on the market despite a lot of stiff competition. Despite being released back in November of 2009 (ancient history in the smartphone game) the Droid has 21 percent of the Android Market as of May. This is followed by the HTC Hero with 16 percent and the HTC...

First Looks at Moto’s Droid X

Posted by Zealot on Jun 16, 2010 | 4 Comments

Once upon a time people said that as phones became more advanced, they would become smaller and smaller. Surprise! The opposite is taking place, as phones just keep getting larger, so that the new crop of superphones are more MID than smartphones, large, gorgeous internet tablets with 4 or 5 inch screens. Consider the EVO 4G and now it’s new competitor, Motorola’s Droid X which is being previewed all over the net...

Documents to Go—a must have for da Droid

Posted by Tim Hillebrand on Feb 02, 2010 | 14 Comments

I saw an immediate problem when I opened the Motorola Droid for the first time. My first response was almost to put it back in the box and send it back for the same reason I was never interested in the iPhone when it first came out. It had no built in software for handling Microsoft Office files such as Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint, not to mention PDF files. A serious PDA user interested in mobile productivity...

Draping the Droid

Posted by Tim Hillebrand on Jan 15, 2010 | 13 Comments

Whenever I get a new pocket pal, one of the first things I do is search for a suitable suit of armor to protect it from the nasties lurking in my pocket and in my gadget bag. But it can’t be just any old suit off the rack. I detest holsters or anything that attaches to and dangles from the belt. I like something that is form-fitting and sleek without any bumps, clips, or extraneous protuberances. You’d think it wouldn’t...

Powermat Goes Seamless

Posted by Marilyn Torres on Jan 12, 2010 | 6 Comments

With Android expanding onto AT&T in a big way, custom accessories are not far behind. Enter Powermat, which was a great idea at first until I realized that in order to make the transition to wireless charging, I would have to add a noticeably bulky, snap-on accessory to my handset. Then, Powermat revealed  a few innovations at CES that I was holding out for from the beginning; seamless, custom-fit, wireless charging...

Dread the Droid, iPhone!

Posted by Tim Hillebrand on Jan 07, 2010 | 22 Comments

Technorati Tags: Droid,Motorola,Verizon,iPhone I really don’t want to waste a lot of time in a review of the new Verizon Motorola Droid comparing it to the iPhone. Let’s get that topic out of the way by listing a few of Droid’s killer features that should catch your attention and put iPhone on the alert: Droid has a bigger screen than iPhone Droid has infinite expandable memory Droid has a lateral, physical, slide...

AT&T Getting Android Soon? Yes. Motorola Backflip/Enzo!

Posted by Chris Leckness on Dec 17, 2009 | 8 Comments

Look what AT&T might be working on… An Android phone. First of all, our tipster referred to it as the “Motorola Enzo” although he said it could be called Backflip on launch day, which – to us at least – seems more likely. Feast your eyes, ladies and gents, on what will very likely become AT&T’s first Android Phone: I wouldn’t normally be really excited about “just a rumor”, but in this case,...

Android Rising, Motorola in Command

Posted by Zealot on Nov 23, 2009 | 9 Comments

According to AdMob, the firm that handles display and text ads for more than about 15,000 mobile Web sites and applications, Android is coming on strong with Motorola riding it back to relevance in a big way. Of course, keep in mind that AdMob is in the process of being acquired by Google (feel the noose tightening?) but still, ad page views don’t lie. Of course Apple’s iPhone is still the leader in terms devices...
