Resco Photo Manager – making your device even better!

There are just some programs that are “must have” programs for your device. For me, every device I have has a variety of programs I use all the time. Two being RESCO File Explorer and RESCO Photo Viewer Pro. But now it is time for me to retire one … because there is a NEW and updated program called RESCO Photo Manager that goes well beyond what you would expect.

Besides becoming a favorite photo viewing program, you now have complete image management that is very simple to use. It has some great effects as well as many slideshow and additional features that will improve your experience.

So what are the features that will make it a great experience? Check this list out:

Touch Optimized Interface with Handy Gestures; The overall concept of the application has been changed. Now you operate in 3 main interfaces (browser, viewer, slideshow). Handling becomes easier and more comfortable with zoom, rotation and move gestures.

Quick Image Access; Browser’s home screen offers 4 main image databases (My Documents, Camera Roll, Favorites, My Albums). Camera Roll shows only images captured by built-in camera. The rest 3 databases are obvious.

Footprint Support for Devices with GPS Module; Enables adding GPS position to any of the images and make diary of the trip. Such geo-tagged image can be located on a map (using Google Maps application). If the application is not present, online Google Maps are used instead.

Upload Images to Flickr, Facebook, Picasa or Twitter; Capture images and send them straight to the net. Along with Flickr, the biggest internet image database, you can choose among other three popular social networks (Facebook, Picasa or Twitter) to upload your photos to.

Interactive Work with Slideshow; You will get ability to move forward, backward or set parameters during the slideshow itself. Change the direction, speed (3 levels) and choose among 9 slideshow effects.

You can get Resco Photo Manager for Windows Mobile here so give it a shot and enjoy the photos you take with your device even more. There is a 7 day trial, my guess is that it will become a favorite of yours!

Resco Bubbles and Snake updated

RESCO has a couple of updates for two great games and NOW the Samsung Omnia II is fully supported!

Resco announced today the release of Resco Bubbles v1.40 and Resco Snake v1.10, updated games for accelerometer equipped devices.

Whats new:

both games now fully support Samsung Omnia II device

minor bugs fixed

… we will finally get to see and enjoy the latest Windows Mobile devices and I expect we will be quite happy with the options available to us.

When we started work on Windows phones, we met with people all over the world who were likely to buy a smartphone and talked with them about what’s important to them in their phone. Looking at the U.S. market, for example, we found that about 15 million people in the next year will buy a new smartphone.

Of the people we talked to, 74% listed productivity as the top feature they value in their smartphone. We took this feedback to heart, making the user interface more touch friendly and improving notifications and updates from e-mail, text and calendar items. We also included the latest Internet Explorer Mobile browser and added free services like My Phone to help protect data in the event of a lost phone and Windows Marketplace for Mobile for access to a wide variety of applications for direct download.

Do you need a tool that will translate over 20 languages on your device? FreeTranslator may be the software that you need. Although I have not tried yet, this might be worth looking at if you want the ability to translate text while using your device.

This translator is similar to Babylon Translator and translates various languages like Italian, English, French, Danish, Swedish, Finnish, German, Spanish, Russian, Greek, Korean, Japanese, Polish, Dutch, Arabian, Afrikaans, Bulgarian, Czech, Indonesian, Welsh, SerboCroat, Ainu and much more!

FREE from Ilium

Ilium has been sharing some free software for Windows Mobile devices (and Palm OS, your Windows PC, UMPC and Tablet PC) for quite some time. It’s completely free and all of them are worth having in your arsenal of programs.

How To Carry Extra Memory/SIM Cards When You Use a Holster

I recently switched from an HP 111 to a Tilt. I prefer holsters and I purchased one for the Tilt. One problem though, the holster doesn’t have card holder like a leather case does. With the holster I no longer have a place to carry my On Course Navigator microSD card and an additional SIM card that I have. I searched around for a solution and I finally found the Proporta Aluminum Memory/SIM Holder.

It is the size of a credit card, and has the thickness of 4 credit cards. It holds 3 SD cards or SIM cards. It is quite sturdy and fits perfectly in one of the pockets in my wallet. I use an inexpensive tri-fold wallet that I purchased at Walmart.

The length of a SIM card is the same as the width of an SD card, so a SIM card sits in one of the holder’s slots sideways. To hold a microSD card I use an SD adapter. I can now easily carry On Course Navigator, my SIM, and an extra SD card for my camera safely in my wallet.

The cards are easy to insert, easy to remove and are securely held in place. Proporta is a company in the UK that sells accessories for gadgets. I ended up purchasing it through Amazon for $8.32 with free shipping.

Synching Multiple Calendars with Windows Mobile

I have been trying different methods of synchronizing my Calendars for many years, and I have finally settled on a method that works for me and is pretty much maintenance free. That method utilizes Google Calendar as my hub and a combination of Google Calendar Sync and an excellent program called gSyncit ($9.99).

Google Calendar supports multiple calendars and lets you publish/share them to other calendar tools like Outlook. Google Sync will synchronize your Outlook calendar to GMail, but it has limitations, and will only synchronize one calendar. I use Google Calendar Sync to synchronize my work calendar with Google Calendar. I renamed my main Google calendar to “Work”. Using Google Calendar Sync on my work computer, I push my work Outlook calendar to Google Calendar. I have my work Outlook look at my other Google calendars as Internet Calendars.

At home I use Outlook to get my calendar to my iPod and Windows Mobile phone. Pocket Outlook only has one calendar and Activesync will only sync one calendar to Outlook. gSyncit is a way to get around that limitation.

gSyncit will synchronize all your different Google calendars to your Outlook calendar. It does this by using categories. Each Google calendar ends up as a different category. My Work calendar ends up as category Work. There are several options for configuring the sync process and controlling what gets synced where. It is easy to setup, so it is very easy to try out before buying. It worked so well for me I only used it for ten minutes before deciding to pay the $9.99. gSyncit has other features besides the calendar sync, it will also sync your contacts with GMail and that includes photos.

WikiPock – Wikipedia in your pocket

WikiPock is a utility for Windows Mobile devices and Blackberrys, that lets you search Wikipedia without being connected to a network. The costs for this convenience is quite reasonable. The Basic version is $9.99 and the Plus Version, which includes updates for a year and two additional databases, is $14.99. The additional databases are Wikiquote, and Wiktionary. The wikipedia database is currently 5 gig in size. If you don’t have that much free space and you need to buy a memory card, they sell an 8 gig microSDHC card with the database preloaded for an additional $15.00. The database includes “full editorial content…except images”.

What is Doodle?

That is what I said when I first heard of it. Of course I was thinking of what I used to do during those long boring lectures I had to attend in school but in fact it is something much more useful and certainly productive. Doodle is a means of helping you find dates and times for group events (like an appointment, a conference call, a family get-together) and it is incredibly easy to use! And BTW, Doodle is a free service!

Using the HTC Touch Diamond 2

They are not planning on publishing a full review but will give their thoughts and feelings over a weeks use as they use it. Certainly a novel approach to giving you a look at this much anticipated device. This may well give a better insight as to how it performs!
