Even though the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 runs Android 1.6, features like the 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, 1 GB on-board storage, storage expandable to 32 GB via card slot, and 8.1 megapixel camera still make this phone a formidable smartphone contender across all American carriers.

At a glance, the Xperia X10 has a beautiful, scratch-resistant 480-by-854 pixel display with three hard buttons directly below the...

There have been certain consumer electric products that had long been rumored, mocked up and dreamed about…but never seem to actually become reality. The Zune Phone was one of those (even through Windows Phone 7 seems to be about to make that little bit of vaporware real). An Apple netbook is another. A third dream device, which has been the product of endless fan-created renderings and hoaxes, has been the Playstation...

As I mentioned in the article about the release of WM6.5.3, Sony Ericsson has released a new front facing QWERTY Smartphone called the Aspen, which is running the latest release from Redmond. It looks to be a nice middle of the road device. I noticed this over at Matthew Millers blog, here are the Specs.
Specifications for the Sony Ericsson Aspen include:
Quad-band GSM/EDGE with two UMTS/HSPA models (900/2100 for Europe...

It looks like we can put rumors to rest about Microsoft announcing another version of WM6.*.* since it seems with the release of a new Sony Ericsson Smartphone called the Aspen, they have officially released WM6.5.3. Here is what wmpoweruser had to say:

It’s not not to get a little excited about an Android handset like the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 with the 1 Ghz Snapdragon processor. Last week, the handset passed through the FCC with only the T-Mobile 3G bands 1700/2100/900. Today, another version of the Xperia X10 handset has passed FCC inspections fully equipped with the 850/1900MHz bands necessary for the phone to access AT&T’s 3G network. Of course,...

During the gaping silence from AT&T regarding all things Android, there has been a small admittance to the end of the iPhone exclusivity to AT&T, yet Android seems to be overtaking market. Sprint has launched the HTC Hero, T-Mobile currently has the myTouch 3G, and Verizon debuted the Motorola Droid and Eris, so I’m wondering if with Sony Ericsson X10 will grace AT&T before the rumored Motorola Motus. Sony...

Here’s another video from Sony Ericsson of the Xperia X10’s interface, which could possibly rival the HTC Hero’s Sense UI if it isn’t overcome by its own flashiness. The columns of scrolling contacts, cover art, and and applications are interesting but busy. Thank goodness the X10 is powered by the Snapdragon 1GHz processor to handle all the pretty flash of Sony’s Rachel UI. The large four-inch display, 8.1...

We all expected there to be a rush of Android phones over the next few months, but I don’t think anyone was prepared for the merry go round of highly impressive devices that are being announced one after the other. It seems like every week there is a new “flagship” Android phone revealed.
Today’s Android world-beater is the Xperia X10 from Sony Ericsson, which had originally been leaked as the X3. Even...

Sony Ericsson has leaked a new video of a prototype Android UI they call “Rachael” which has “This is just a concept for internal use only, sit the hell down” warnings all over it. Once you accept that fact that you can’t buy a phone with this UI today, tomorrow, or possibly ever (or possibly in 4 days with the Xperia X3), the video is a very interesting picture of a direction User Interfaces may be going.
The...

Randall Boggs: Shh. Shh. Shh. Shh. Do you hear that? [pause] It’s the winds…of change.
It seems that there has been a bellweather change in the days since the burst of enthusiasm right before the release of Windows Mobile 6.5. Even though a number of cool new phones were released or are on the way utilizing the newest version of WinMo (yes HTC Leo, I see you there in the back), a wave of disappointment and hopelessness...

…Only if you have a Sony Ericsson phone, and even then not so much.
Sony Ericsson has been been saying for a couple weeks that they had an announcement that was going to “change the way you listen to music forever.” What they actually announced were…well…ear buds.
Admittedly, pretty cool ear buds. They are MH907 “Motion Activated” headphones. What that means is that they use your skin as sort of a giant...

I just mentioned the other day about a rumor that SE might be ceasing Windows Mobile phones after the X2, now I want to share some nice videos showcases this hot looking device. I personally don’t want to get too excited because of the let down I had with the X1, but some might still be all in.
Phone Arena and Secommunity have put a couple good videos online showing the X2. The Phone Arena one is detailed with...

A while back I posted a video showing some of the features of Sony Ericsson’s XPERIA X2 phone. Well here’s another one which shows the phone’s features in a little more depth. It shows the new panel interface, and what seems to be a home screen skin. It also shows some of its graphics capabilities, as well as software. There appears to be a skinned version of Outlook Mobile, which seems nice. ...

Browsing Engadget (yet again), I came across this rather boring quiet video demo of the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2. Despite being very boring quiet, it did show some cool features of the device. WinMo 6.5, what appears to be improved Panels, a cool looking weather app and so on. This phone seems to have much to offer. And it looks just flat out cool. I may reconsider on the Omnia II…………nah.
I...

We’ve seen the X1 so it sort of makes sense that there will be a X2 … but is this it? The folks at Engadget seem to think that this is a plausible image of an early prototype. What reinforces their thoughts is you can clearly make out the X Panel button in the lower left of the phone’s front and a Windows key in the upper left of the keyboard. Is it credible? Only time will tell….

A great friend and super reviewer, Lisa Gade over at Mobile Tech Review, has reviewed the Xperia X1. This is a phone I lusted over early on. Just like the iPAQ 6915 a couple years ago, it’s been so long that my interest has dwindled. Still, It looks to be one of the hottest up coming devices out there.
Lisa’s Conclusion seems mixed, but overall good… What do you think of the Xperia?
We’re very...

Gizmodo, a blog that has been hard on WinMo phones in the past, has put up a their review of the Sony Ericcson Xperia X1. What I got from the review is that it’s not a bad phone, even with WinMo as the OS, but the price tag and features shoot the Xperia X1 in it’s own foot a bit.
Overall, the custom software upgrades Sony Ericsson added to WinMo 6.1 are good, but feel tacked on; ths ranges from random 6.1...

It seems like almost a year since everyone, myself included, started lusting over the Xperia X1. Delays, rumors, leaked unit, etc… We’ve seen it all. Now we have something official, in the form of press release from Engadget (Press Release after the jump) So yes, you can go grab one of these for $799 on November 29th. Yes, I said $799. Wow!
Is it worth that much? Engadget Mobile has reviewed the Xperia X1...

I’m a long time user of the SPB tools. I like the way they build their user interface and the SPB Mobile Shell product is the first thing I install on each of my devices.
Recently I posted in my blog about Toshiba embedding SPB Mobile shell as the main shell UI.
Today I found that the SPB Mobile Shell will be one of the panels included in Sony Ericsson’s XPeria X1.
As part of the strategic partnership between...
