Extended 2200mAh Battery for G1

I just received an Extended 2200 mAh Battery for my T-Mobile G1. I have not ran any special tests but the original battery was a 1150 mAh one so do the math, 1.91 more battery life. And this is one of the good things that I love from my G1, I can change the battery freely no like another very popular phone that you all know.

One Million G1’s Sold!

T-Mobile has sold 1,000,000 of G1 in Just 6 months! This number says a lot also about the acceptance of the Android OS taking in consideration that the G1 design is far from being an attractive one. Being the Android an Open Source OS is something that is giving very good results. The so called Cupcake version of Android already includes options that iPhone users are just dreaming to have such as Video Recording Capability right out of the box.

While obviously the million number sold is comparably small to iPhone sales, for T-mobile, its an impressive number regardless. According to the guys over at Telephony, the really interesting number is that T-mobile has roughly 1.5 million devices currently operating on its 3G network, which gives the G1 a 67% market share.

T-Mobile G1 for under $100

Ran into a great nugget over at Brighthand this morning. Instead of $200 w/ contract directly through T-Mobile, you can score a G1 from Amazon for $97.00. Now, you need to be a new customer and sign a contract, but if you are in the market anyway, why not.

T-Mobile G1 Now Shipping with Audio Adapter

This is wonderful news. Sure, you can go buy a cheapo adapter for under $10, but why should you have to?

We’ve received official word from HTC that 3.5mm headphone adapters for the ExtUSB port are now being bundled with the phone…

T-Mobile G1 – Mobilitysite Video 1st Look

There is a ton of info popping up online today about the T-Mobile G1. Frank posted links to a couple reviews that have already surfaced. I also want to point out Matt Miller’s extensive review (complete with screenshots of every screen possible), it’s probably the most comprehensive review online. Matt and I talked G1 to G1 a few times over the last week and share a lot of the same gripes.

I have had a G1 for about a week and I have a long, long, boring video for all to see. Yes, my video really is 28 minutes. I just do a 1st looks and walk through at the software. Please excuse the stumbling a bit, Android is nice OS, but I am not too familiar with it.

After a solid week of use, I am happy to return back to the Palm Treo Pro, but the G1 is a great phone. The lack of exchange support, just like the G1 iPhone, is a killer for me. As a phone, the G1 is stellar in my area. Great call quality and a really nice interface for making calls.

T-Mobile G1 Manual and T-Mobile Backs Down on Data

A couple items about the G1 hit this weekend. One of them is the answer to a problem that I am not even sure if everyone knew about, but T-Mobile was planning on capping 3G data with the G1’s dataplans. Well, if you didn’t know, no biggie. If you did know, you will be happy to know that T-Mobile realized that they were going to take some serious heat if they did. Thanks to Kevin at Jkontherun for reporting that Saul Hansell from the New York Times got word from T-Mobile that the cap was removed…

“We removed the 1GB soft limit from our policy statement, and we are confident that T-Mobile G1 customers will enjoy the high speed of data access over our 3G network. The specific terms for our new data plans are still being reviewed and once they are final we will be certain to share this broadly with current customers and potential new customers.”

That’s a good thing for those looking to get their hands on the “Sold Out” T-Mobile G1.

Short Video of the T-Mobile G1

T-Mobile has unveiled the worlds first mobile phone powered by Android, an open-source mobile platform led by Google. T-Mobile G1 is a touch-screen mobile phone that includes a QWERTY keyboard and features applications like Google Maps with StreetView, Gmail and YouTube.

The phone will be available in the U.S. beginning Oct. 22 and in the United Kingdom in early November with other international launch dates scheduled throughout 2009. The following video includes general views of the T-Mobile G1 phone and browsing applications.

T-Mobile G1 Makes and Appearance – Online and Streets

Apparently the HTC Dream is going to be launched as the T-Mobile G1 tomorrow. This will be the 1st Google Andriod phone released. Since we are nearing the launch, there is a bunch of buzz going around. The G1 has leaked out onto T-Mobile’s website already and someone also caught some spyshots.

Fellow Mobius Member, Sasha Sega (PC Mag) posted an interesting about Andriod and it makes some interesting points. What if the 81% gets even larger because of Andriod? Then it still is competition for WInMo and Blackberry.

Android’s true target isn’t the 19 percent of phones running OSs, like BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, and Mac OS. It’s the other 81 percent of phones, which aren’t smartphones and run operating systems you’ve never heard of like Nucleus and P2K. This large part of the market we call feature phones has become more and more powerful, hardware-wise, over the past few years. But these brawny handsets are still stuck with software stacks designed for the 20th century.

Don’t really believe that the T-Mobile G1 is the HTC Dream? T-Mobile told us themselves directly on their website…
