Samsung Louvre = the Omnia Pro?

I really don’t care what it is called, I like it a lot. The folks at the Unwired View passed this tidbit along saying that reportedly, the Omnia Pro is none other than the Windows Mobile 6.1 Samsung Louvre B7610. What caught my attention was this neat picture that definitely got my “device envy” juices flowing.

The Omnia Pro has a wide 3.5 inch AMOLED touchscreen display with 480 x 800 pixels, and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Check out these specs after the break:

Have an AT&T Tilt running WM6.1 and your Calendar entries are not syncing over the air to Exchange?

If so, do I have the fix for you! Well, not so much a “fix” than it is a workaround…

Problem: Users of the AT&T Tilt (BKA: HTC TyTN II) who have upgraded to the WM6.1 ROM are no longer able to sync their appointments up to the Exchange server; however, you can still receive Calendar appointments down from Exchange to the device and all other items (Inbox, Contacts, Tasks) sync up and down correctly over the air.

Previous advice from multiple forums advises temporarily switching from a Time Zone and back fixes it, but that only lasts for 24 hours or until the next reset/power cycle of the device.

Here is the workaround I’ve received directly from HTC Support – in theory, this should last until DST changes:

Go to: Start > Settings, tap on Phone, then switch to the Time zone tab and Uncheck the box to auto adjust for daylight savings time, then OK to save.
Returning to the Settings screen, change to the System Tab, tap on Clock & Alarms (You can access this also by returning to your Today screen and tapping on the Time or Clock plug-in.
Change your Time Zone to GMT 0 London, Dublin.
Sync to the server wirelessly via Active Sync.
After a successful sync return to the Clock settings and change back to your current Time Zone.
Sync to the server wirelessly via Active Sync.

Again, this should be fine until DST changes. At that point one will have to either manually change the time and sync or just repeat the above process – only time will tell.

HTC Touch Pro Arrives at Verizon

Decisions … Decisions … Decisions

I’ve pretty much decided on what my next device will be and the question now is where do I want to get my service from. Now that Verizon has added the Touch Pro to it stable of devices, the decision has become harder. Having the performance and functionality of a device with Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional coupled with the a slide–out QWERTY keyboard, a 5–way navigation key and the extras that HTC adds with the Touch Flo interface, this is pretty much as close to a perfect device for my needs.

Having the advantage of Wi–Fi connectivity, Bluetooth, the ability to tether as well as enjoy my music and videos along with the myriad of “must have” applications I use everyday will be thoroughly enjoyed with the Touch Pro and with the strong Verizon network …. this could be the one!

Sprint ACE gets WM6.1 Upgrade!

HTC Cruise gets a WM 6.1 ROM Upgrade

All you lucky owners of the HTC Touch Cruise can have a BIG smile on your faces now. You are now in that select group of folks that can upgrade your device to Windows Mobile 6.1. This FREE upgrade in available now but just a quick reminder for those that have never completed the process before. Applying the upgrade will wipe all data and software that you installed so if you have anything that you need to save, back it up. Also, just before you perform the upgrade, sync your device just too make sure that anything that is new on your device transfers to your PC. After you establish a new partnership, all that data will sync back to the upgraded device.

A Long Time Coming. The Treo 700wx Gets An Update

Chris posted back in June that the Ancient Treo to get Windows Mobile 6 will get an update. It has been a long time coming and I can imagine there are a few folks that ditched their 700wx to get a 6.0 device and now they find out that they could have had it if they waited a little longer.

Review: Palm Treo Pro

I read this review this morning on WMExperts as I was traveling from Maine to Vermont on a quick trip and wanted to pass it on because it was a great review. As many of you know, the Treo Pro is the latest addition from Palm featuring Windows Mobile. We can expect it in the US later this Fall in an unlocked, non-carrier-subsidized form for $549. Clearly a business user device, it has some great features that you just might like and I believe that those of you that love Palm’s form factor will love it no matter what you use a device for.

So what do the folks at WMExperts think about this new entry from Palm?

The Treo Pro is easily Palm’s best Treo yet. It finally hits all of the feature checkmarks that users have been clamoring for and does it in a way that’s well-integrated with the hardware. Where other smartphones have a tendency to just throw hardware onto a device and leave out making it easy to use, the Treo Pro rarely feels awkward.

Just as importantly, the Treo Pro is the first Treo in a long time to sport a thin and sexy form factor compared to other devices on the market. From the packaging to the look to build quality to feature set to battery life, the Treo Pro is a real winner and doesn’t feel like it’s a year behind the smartphone curve.

AT&T and HTC Release WM 6.1 for the AT&T Tilt

The tipster was right on with the 26th being the date, I kind had a hunch since I had a little insight from HTC as well. :)

Anyhow, I was in training for work today when it hit and the emails started coming in that it was online now, so I made a post to discuss it on Tiltsite. Make sure to use the forums to discuss upgrading as well if you have tips or any problems.

Kris has promised to bring us more info as well, once he gets his flashed and all. Kip has posted a piece on the differences between the Bloat on the ROMs too.

Windows Mobile 6.1 for Motorola Q9h

I’m a couple of days late on this but I’ve been canoeing on a few new lakes and streams in Maine. So this morning I was trying to catch up on some feeds and it looks like there are some very happy Q9h users out there. The B GR let everyone know that although there has been an unofficial update floating around, the REAL THING is now here for your pleasure.

There are a moderate number of new features complemented by slightly improved device response and speed. The update itself is a pretty straightforward affair, though make sure you do a full back up before clicking on the “install” button.

Fun Facts from Verizon….

The other day, Chris Ziegler posted some fun facts from a Verizon presentation filled with some neat “fun facts” that for what ever reason most people tended to gloss over quickly. But then one person happened to look carefully and noticed a little fun fact that will make owners of the i760 very happy campers!

No, it was not that the i700 was in the works but rather a renewed breath of life for their i760 with the very definite hint that a 6.1 upgrade would soon here.

Treo 850 – full specs leaked and it has WiFi

We saw some pics of the Palm Treo 850 that the BGR had the other day and now we are seeing the full specs from TamsPPC. There is no question that this new Palm Windows Mobile device will spark an interest in a lot of folks that love Palm’s form factor:

As a side note, AT&T’s Tilt update will apparently follow but no date is even suggested.
